What a sewer scope inspection is

We feed a specialized waterproof camera into the home's main sewer line and record its condition all the way to the city connection. A standard home inspection does not include the buried sewer line, so this is the only way to actually see what is going on underground before you buy.

Why it matters in North Texas

Sewer line problems are one of the most expensive surprises a new owner can face, and they are common on DFW's older homes. Neighborhoods across Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, and the older parts of the metroplex still have cast-iron or clay sewer lines that corrode, crack, separate, or fill with tree roots over decades. A sewer scope shows the real condition of the line so you can negotiate or plan before closing, not after.

What we look for

  • Cracks, breaks, and separated joints
  • Corrosion and deterioration in cast-iron and clay lines
  • Root intrusion blocking or damaging the pipe
  • Bellies (low spots) where waste collects
  • Blockages, offsets, and prior patch repairs

When you should get one

We especially recommend a sewer scope on any home built before the 1990s, homes with large mature trees near the sewer line, and any home where you want the full picture before buying. It is one of the highest-value add-ons you can pair with your inspection.

Serving all of Dallas–Fort Worth

We offer sewer scopes throughout the DFW metroplex and surrounding counties, including Dallas, Fort Worth, Plano, Frisco, Denton, Arlington, and beyond.

Which homes most need a sewer scope?

Any home built before the 1990s, homes with large mature trees near the line, and any home where you want certainty. Older cast-iron and clay lines are the most likely to have problems.
